Robin Maugham


Robert Cecil Romer Maugham, 2nd Viscount Maugham of Hartfield (17 May 1916 - 13 March 1981), known as Robin Maugham, was a British novelist, playwright and travel writer.

Maugham - the nephew of the better-known W Somerset Maugham - was a prolific writer, whose output included twenty novels, twelve non-fiction books and several plays.

Many of Maugham's novels have characters who are explicitly or implicitly homosexual. His most famous work, the play The Servant, which was adapted for the cinema (screenplay by Harold Pinter; directed by Joseph Losey; starring James Fox and Dirk Bogarde) had a strong homoerotic subtext.
