Content:

Publisher uncertain. At first glance this appears to be "British Group of Sexological Research", but this appears to be a spurious organisation that has never been identified anywhere else. Officially published by the Centre d'Etudes et de Documentations Pédagogiques whose Paris address is given on p379, but this organisation does not seem to have had an existence outside this book.

Basically a collection of anecdotes regarding male homosexuality and transvestism, with some lesbianism; many examples from France. The tone is prurient, as can be seen from the quotes above. Bilingual English / French with many b&w illustrations - copies of famous and not so famous drawings / paintings of men, women and transvestites, gay and otherwise.

Quote from this book

"'There are millions of sexual perverts in this world.' Every year, thousands of young men, grown men who, up to this moment, had ignored pederasty and homosexuality, become suddenly conscious of the reality of this evil, and taking their place in line, enter into the labyrinth of this 'border world'.

Every year thousands of families to whom the homosexual had been the butt of traditional jokes, now see the son of the house, the shining hope, still a school boy or university student, enter the ranks of the pariahs of the race. There are millions of homosexuals in the world as the various surveys and investigations point out from time to time. But that only makes the upright people smile: those inverts live in another world, in a snob society of drugged or sick intellectuals. Those marked millions are but an abstraction and can only be of concern to 'other' people. Perhaps these men of feminine manners are human beings... but to be considered more as lepers, confined to a far away and gigantic concentration camp... Never would it enter the minds if those comfortable class or working class families that these miserable millions were in every respect, young men and young women, just like John, Jack or Mary and that they might be the sons and daughters of proper and honorable families."
