In trying to adapt himself he finds that his conscience is in conflict with his love of money. He cannot continue to enjoy the luxurious existence to which has been introduced unless he surrenders his will entirely to Patrick's. Before Nicholas fully realizes the dilemma with which he is confronted he has had a number of enlightening experience which, from the reader's point of view," are extremely entertaining.
