Plot / Content:

"'Young man wanted as live-in companion for an old lady who doesn't want to be bothered. Come and go as you please. Indiscretions and irregularities acceptable.'
"David qualified, but the job didn't last long because Mrs Carroll died one evening while David was watching the gardener put on his shirt. David's former lover is called in to help settle affairs. He brings along Madeleine, a legendary actress and singer, who in turn summons her wry, bitchy agent, Aldo. With the help of a few more friends, the troup schemes for Madeleine to impersonate the late Mrs Carroll long enough to convince the lawyers she's still alive and able to sign a new will.
"And then the fun begins.

Background / Biography:

Reviews:

"A most entertaining performance." Los Angeles Times
(from the cover)
"the book is a delight" Richard Hall, The Advocate
"One of the most exciting, refreshing and hilarious novels I've had the privilege to curl up with for quite some time ... Quite simply, this is a novel that is not to be missed." Gay Community News
"rather in the manner of Gore Vidal, but considerably more wicked ... marvelously entertaining and devastatingly worldly." Library Journal
(from the pre-title page)
"Hardly 'madcap' or 'honest' but still a good read. Characters 2-dimensional, however" (owner's comment on pre-title page)
