Boards half bound marbled and leather with gilt lettering (more recent, probably 20th century): generally good, very slight bumping of corners. Title page and frontispiece marked and small piece missing. Some pages have slight markings or small tears (affecting three lines on pp105/106), but generally good condition. 11 page introduction, 182 pages text; 2 pages advertising Chiswell's books, mostly by Burnet.

Report of a discussion between Burnet and Rochester that focuses on the latter's religious beliefs, not the erotic works for which he is most famous.


John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester (1 April 1647 – 26 July 1680), was an English poet and courtier of King Charles II's Restoration court. Rochester was as well known for his rakish lifestyle as his poetry, although the two were often interlinked. He died at the age of 33 from venereal disease. continued on Wikipedia
